Ingenia Holiday Parks has made it possible for Aussie travellers to enjoy luxurious yet environmentally responsible travel, with the introduction of tourism-first Eco Pavilion Pods at their Byron Bay holiday park.
Partnering with Gold Coast-based modular home builder ModnPods, Ingenia Holidays Byron Bay now features five Eco Pods, each incorporating Passive House Design and fitted with two bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom and deck.
Ingenia Holiday Parks General Manager Tourism Matthew Young said Ingenia Holiday Parks are the first tourism park operator to launch ModnPods on a commercial level, further expanding their offering for the growing environmentally conscious traveller.
“Our Byron Bay Eco Pavilion Pods are the first of their kind, designed to the highest standards of Passive House Design, with reduced noise levels and thermal efficiency,” Mr Young said.
“Made with 90 per cent Australian premium materials – 70 per cent of which are fully recyclable – the Pods have been designed to complement the natural landscape of Byron Bay and offer an immersive experience with natural materials and finishes.
“With quality glazing, filtered fresh air and continuous insulation, the Eco Pavilion Pods provide a quiet haven for those looking to minimise their carbon footprint without forgoing the luxuries.”
The 2021 Sustainable Travel Report by Booking.com found that 72 per cent of Australians want to stay in sustainable accommodation, with the pandemic sparking a growing demand for eco-living and responsible travel.
“The pandemic has made many travellers reflect on ways to not only resume their travels but do things better. Our Eco Pavilion Pods offer the chance to enjoy a luxury stay with the peace of mind of significantly lower carbon emissions,” Mr Young said.
“Low energy consumption, emissions and waste enable guests to greatly reduce the environmental footprint of their stay.”
ModnPods Founder and Managing Director John Christie said the Pods not only offer a sustainable alternative to traditional accommodation but provide a healthier stay for guests.
“We partnered with Ingenia Holiday Parks to be first to market in the commercial space, primarily because they aligned with our company ethos of sustainability,” Mr Christie said.
“Anything we use, we reuse and we’re Australian made, so we know exactly where our products come from. As well, we source most of our materials from local suppliers, which reduces our carbon footprint and ensures we’re investing back into the Australian community.
“Not only are we committed to low emissions and waste, but we use low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) manufacturing processes, so our building material has zero toxins, providing guests with a healthier stay.
“People who have test-driven the Pods tell us ‘that was the best night’s sleep we’ve ever had’ and that’s because the Pods are built to a high energy efficiency standard, so guests don’t have to run the aircon and are instead breathing the cleanest air.”
